EFT exercises and their results
56First of all EFT, also known as ‘Energy Psychology’, is a non-scientific technique. It is developed from the ancient Chinese meridian energy system - it is a form of emotional acupuncture without the needles, and is based on the premise that all negative emotions are the result of a disruption in the body’s energy system.EFT is a method for safely releasing unwanted negative or painful, emotions, thoughts and feelings such as sadness, fear, anxiety, anger, guilt, shame, hurt, grief, bitterness etc. EFT relieves the emotional intensity associated with anxiety, fears, phobias and is used to “neutralize” unpleasant or traumatic memories.
Lately is has become quite popular, however there is no scientific evidence that it actually helps with dealing with unpleasant emotional experiences. Like many such techniques, most scientist consider that the placebo effect is the one that makes a person feel better, that basically your mind is telling your body that things are OK, and the body react accordingly.
Therefore, by no means should you expect to see results in a couple of minutes, or for that matter to see any results. It simply doesn't work like taking a painkiller that will make the pain go away. If you expect to see result right away then your approach to the issues you're having, I assume emotional in their nature, is completely inadequate. You are doing more harm than good, if you stress yourself into feeling better. My advice is to just relax, keep doing the exercises but be more open minded and accept the fact that you might never be able to quantify the results you get in an objective manner. I have tried many 'new age' techniques and indeed they help, but their results where clear only when I started to look at thing in a relaxed, 'chilled' way.
